L'Australie nous gratifie d'une considérable mine d'informations sur ce Paris-Dakar un peu spécial.
On y trouvera une carte globale de la région et surtout un descriptif complet des spéciales... en anglais malheureusement.

Mais l'iconographie et la motivation feront que le lecteur se rira de ces modestes inconvénients, un peu aussi grâce à la traduction Google.

Un moteur de recherches de personnes. Comme beaucoup, j'ai commencé par taper mon nom. Hé bien j'existe, mais à peine.
J'ai ensuite essayé Yves Bertrand (ex-patron des RG), les résultats furent très encourageants, à la limite de l'intrusion d'ailleurs, puisque 4 adresses email apparurent, c'est quand même un comble pour un monsieur dont le plus cher désir fût longtemps de rester dans l'ombre. Il faut bien reconnaître qu'actuellement il bénéficie des honneurs de la presse d'investigation.
J'ai enfin donné le nom d'un cousin hotelier dans le sud de la Corse, hé bien il est plus connu que moi.

Une fonctionnalité remarquable est l'affichage résumé des résultats par thème en début de page : 4 adresses email ; 20 blogs ; 15 profils communautaires ; 8 vidéos ; etc ..

Une autre est le nuage de tags généré dans la page de résultats avec lequel on peut recentrer facilement la recherche et améliorer du coup la pertinence.

Une toolbar est téléchargeable, et en cas d'entêtement dans la recherche on peut se faire avertir par email des nouveautés.

123people s'intitule moteur européen et en effet, en haut et à gauche, italien, allemand et anglais sont des langues disponibles. Autre preuve du caractère plurilinguistique, les conditions d'utilisation en anglais nous apprennent que le moteur appartient à une entreprise dont le siège est en Autriche, à Vienne. Par ailleurs, j'ai vu passer dans les résultats des liens vers des pages hébergées au Canada, dont les résumés étaient en anglais, mais bon, j'ai une conception très large de l'Europe. Cependant cela est contradictoire avec le menu déroulant, par lequel on peut choisir le pays de recherche, et où j'avais indiqué 'France'.

Microsoft a proposé d'acheter le département recherches de Yahoo et de prendre une participation minoritaire dans ce pionnier du Web, se refusant à effectuer une réelle fusion, indiquait lundi une personne proche des négociations.

Dans la corbeille Yahoo mettrait ses avoirs asiatiques, y compris les participations minoritaires significatives dans Yahoo Japon et dans le groupe chinois Alibaba, en vente, alors que Microsoft prendrait une part minoritaire mais significative de ce qui reste de la compagnie, indiquait encore la même source. Les entretiens ont été révélés par les deux compagnies dimanche, mais elles ont refusé d'indiquer les termes des discussions.

Plus tôt ce mois, Microsoft avait tenté d' acquérir Yahoo pour $47.5 milliards.

La nouvelle transaction, si elle était menée à bien, forgerait une alliance entre les deux compagnies qui représenterait une concurrence sérieuse pour Google, dont le moteur de recherche omniprésent estdevenu une véritable usine de publicité en ligne.

Cette nouvelle propostion esquisse les contours de la stratégie de Microsoft mais elle ne chiffre pas encore le département recherches de Yahoo, indiquait encore la source, qui parle sous sa seule responsabilité car les discussions sont confidentielles. Les représentants de Microsoft et de Yahoo ont refusé de commenter. L'action de Yahoo a chuté de 0.87% lundi, remontant avant fermeture de 2 cents à $27.68 sur le Nasdaq. Microsoft, quant à elle a chuté 1.8 pour cent à $29.46.

L'analyste de Collins Stewart, Sandeep Aggarwal évaluait lundi le département recherches de Yahoo à environ $21 milliards, et plaçait la valeur de ses capitaux internationaux à $9.25 milliards dans une note de recherches.

Je constate avec soulagement que le problème corse a été compris à l'autre bout de la planète. Maintenant que nous avons deux chinois cultivés avec nous, nous sommes sauvés.

C'est flagrant comme la difficulté de l'élévation spirituelle est une caractéristique uniformément répartie dans le monde. Aucune civilisation fût-elle pluri-millénaire n'est à l'abri.

A moins que ces manifestations ne soient téléguidées par le gouvernement chinois en réponse à la campagne subversive soi-disant menée par son homologue français à cause de son attitude soi-disant colonialiste au Tibet ? Oh non, je n'ose y croire. La France et la Chine sont deux grands pays qui ne s'abaissent pas à de telles manipulations.

Un bombardier US B2 s'écrase au décollage

C'est tellement rare que c'est une première : le 23 février une dépêche AFP signale que sur l'ile de Guam dans le Pacifique, un bombardier furtif de type B2 s'est écrasé au décollage. Ses deux pilotes ont eu le temps de s'éjecter et sont saufs et sains (d'après les officiers qui les ont évalués après le crash..).
En ce qui concerne la perte financière, les opinions divergent. Le coût officiel d'un B2, après une envolée, est arrivé à 2.2 milliards de dollars. Mais les Français, qui l'ont vu en action en Serbie ont calculé qu'un avion revenait aux alentours de 4 Milliards de dollars. Comme l'indique le site Danger Room de manière plus imagée, quand un B2 se crashe, financièrement c'est comme si 20 F15 étaient détruits...
