Re: Get only items from today + update the pipe at a certain time each day

Hello.
Firstly - thanks so much for taking the time to reply.
Now, I see what you mean about a pipe refreshing itself - bad choice of words on my part. What I meant was that I need to only allow one item through per day - after a certain time. So:
  1. The publish date would have to match today's date
  2. The publish time would have to be after a certain time
I've already got the code for 'one item per day' so the above two rules are all I need to get working.
I think that's doable with pipes.
I am a heavy user of IFTTT and I have looked into exactly what you suggested... it was my first thought too... I hope I'm missing a trick there, but I'm fairly sure that you cannot schedule IFTTT to tweet one feed item at a certain time as you suggest, it checks every 15 minutes on auto and tweets anything new. If you know of a way to achieve what you suggested in IFTTT I'd be very grateful to hear it.
I don't really understand what you're saying in your last paragraph - but when you refer to utime, in my pipe I was really just testing and trying to make it work without really understanding what I was doing. I was hoping to pass only items that match today's date through... and only items that had been posted after a certain time... but nothing I did worked.
I'm hoping someone can help me to get the above two rules working in my pipe... or if IFTTT can do what you suggest - that would work perfectly as well.
Cheers all - I really appreciate the help.

Hello,
First of all, the pipe doesn't refresh itself. All it can do is process its feed/webpage content when queried. Thus, it depends on what queries it (server? webpage?). If my guess is correct, and it is embedded in a HTML webpage, then it is refreshed on every visit of the page (be careful of the pipe limitations though).
Instead, I think you should use a pipe to retrieve the content, and some other service, like IFTTT, in-between the pipe and the querier. In IFTTT you can set the trigger as given time each day to do the action - retrieve your pipe feed. Be careful of IFTTT limitations in this case. Bonus is, you can tweet it more easily as IFTTT has a smooth integration with other services.
For your 1., be careful. In your pipe you filter from a utime and a few arithmetic operations. However, the utime you use is basically the now utime. It can be fine if you query the feed only once a day at a given time, however from what I see, you should substract current seconds, minutes, and hours.
Hope I was clear enough!

Re: Server status twitter bot

Hello,
I'll go with almost the same answer then to your last post: easy, combined with IFTTT. Pipes will create a feed pinging your server. However this feed is created only when queried, hence IFTTT.IFTTT makes the connexion with twitter easy. It will query the pipe, which in turn will query your server, every 15min, and from there send a twit if down/up/whatever.

Re: pubDate Appears in "Source" but Not RSS Feed

Hello,
replace your assign results to: item.pubDate by assign results to: item.y:published in your loop/date builder module. Pipes can infer the pubDate it will use from the compact pubDate you devised, but it's more reliable to give the full data. Likewise, you'll perfer to use y:id instead of title.
This being said, all of the above and more are done automatically when using the create RSS operator or the RSS item builder.

Hello,

Secondly, I'm quite sure it's not that google blocks this kind of access, but from one part an inadequate use of the authentication, and the fact that the result is a bag full of javascript with not much decrypted content. You should look at APIs from google (news) instead.

jquery-pjaxr is jQuery plugin that uses ajax and pushState to deliver a fast browsing experience. It is able to replace multiple containers and different head tags with full back-forward functionality.
There is already an awesome plugin called jquery-pjax on which this project is based. For not breaking existing frontends but to support the same port to the server this library is named pjaxr and accepts the same header X-PJAX.
